We had a truly inspiring and insightful session with Jacky Greenwood this morning. Her presentation on the important topic of bullying was engaging, and impactful for both our parents and students. Jacky created a welcoming and open atmosphere, making it easy for everyone to connect with the topic and reflect on meaningful takeaways. Thank you, Jacky, for taking the time to join us. We hope to welcome you back to DISD again soon.

Today, our students had the incredible opportunity to attend a sports psychology talk with renowned guest speaker Dr. Shane Mulligan! Dr. Mulligan shared valuable insights on managing performance nerves, equipping our young athletes with essential tools to enhance their mental resilience. His engaging session covered techniques to stay focused, build confidence, and turn nerves into a source of motivation. As our students prepare for their upcoming sports fixtures, events, and competitions, they now have a deeper understanding of the mental aspects of performance. We're excited to see how they apply these strategies on the field. Thank you, Dr. Mulligan, for inspiring our future champions!

Jackie Greenwood is an absolutely fantastic, insightful, knowledgeable, empathetic, and caring practitioner. I am so lucky to have her as my supervisor but also as the Taaleem counselling group to have Jackie present such thought providing talks for us. A million thank you!

We had the pleasure of welcoming guest speaker; Dr. Shane Mulligan (Clinical Psychologist) from Vivamus this week, delivering a superb presentation, followed by an insightful Q&A with our sixth form Sports Study students. Dr. Shane gave an excellent, in-depth talk about Sports Psychology. Including anonymised case studies of real-world athletes struggling with performance, recognising, assessing and resolving mental health issues, tips and tricks to staying focused and managing sporting set backs. We rounded off the session with a Q&A section where the students had preprepared questions for Dr. Shane - where he managed to link answers to the current topics of stress, anxiety and psychological skills. Just the most beneficial session for our sports study students! Thankyou so much!

I started seeing Dr Aravinth who is a consultant psychiatrist in 2024 when he worked with a different clinic based in Abu Dhabi, and my case was not simple. It took time to understand what I was going through, and there were many sessions that were genuinely hard for me, but he handled all of it with so much patience, calm, and understanding. One of my biggest fears was medication, especially the idea of feeling numb or unlike myself. He was always very mindful of that, and what I appreciated most is that his approach isn’t about keeping you on medication, it’s about helping you reach a place where you don’t need it long-term. There’s a lot of integrity in the way he works, you can feel that his priority is truly your wellbeing. With him, you don't feel like you're just another patient, you feel seen and cared for as a person, which makes a huge difference. Even though I live in Abu Dhabi and he is now with Vivamus which is based in Dubai, I still go to him. I think that says everything!
