Had total hip replacement around 3 weeks ago it has been an amazing experience. I really only felt significant pain for about 30 min post surgery when Dr Paul ensured I was receiving appropriate analgesia since then I was top of my meds and relatively pain free mainly stiffness. Was up and walking with the aid of crutches the day of surgery and since then progressively be losing walking aids. Currently on a traditional walking stick learning to walk with a functional hip. Been walking in the pool unaided and started back at the gym including easy spin classes. Looking forward to testing the new hardware and enjoying a new release of life. Thanks Dr Paul an amazing experience and things went smoother than I ever thought.
I am a "Snowbird" from Chicago who visits Dubai every winter to stay with my daughter who lives there. After hearing all the wonderful things patients have to say about Dr. Paul Macnamara, I decided he would be the perfect choice for my right total hip replacement surgery. I first consulted with him at the end of Nov 2025, and chose to schedule my surgery for the new year on Jan 13, 2026. In the interim of preparing, Dr. Paul was incredibly communicative even with a 10-hour time difference and always answered my many questions within minutes, making me feel all the more confident with my decision. Now, 10 weeks post surgery, I am thrilled with my recovery! I only took minimal pain meds for a couple of days post-op and am happy to say I didn't need more than that as I felt quite pain-free. I am back home now in Chicago and have traded in the warm walks of Dubai for a cold and sometimes snowy landscape, but I feel secure in the knowledge that Dr. Paul has "fixed me up" in both the most expert and caring way possible! If I could give Dr. Paul McNamara 10 stars, I would. He is a rare, one of a kind doctor whose care for his patients is unmatched, in my experience. It is uncommon to find a doctor who is not only technically exceptional, but also caring, compassionate and always available. Bedside manner is often under-rated, however, as a patient who has undergone many surgeries, I truly value Dr. McNamara's genuine concern and respect for his patients. From the very first consultation, he approached my case with a level of attentiveness and expertise that immediately put me at ease. My situation was far from straightforward, yet he took the time to explain every step of the process, answer my questions thoroughly, (and I had many) and ensure I understood what to expect. The surgery itself was a success, despite the complexity of my hip condition. I am in week 7 of recovery and feeling great. My pain has significantly decreased, my mobility has improved, and I finally feel hopeful about my long-term recovery. I am deeply grateful for the outstanding work Dr. McNamara did on my hip replacement and would recommend him without hesitation to anyone seeking an expert orthopedic surgeon who blends surgical excellence with genuine patient-centered care.
Dr Paul was and continues to be very helpful and supportive. I am amazed of his efficiency and how fast recovery his method provides. He did my total hip replacement on a Monday. Two hours after the surgery, I was able to stand up (with support). On Tuesday, I walk with only one crutch. Wednesday came and I am able to move around even without crutches. Next Monday - no crutches. I feel surprisingly well for such a major surgery. In every act and communication, Dr Paul demonstrates empathy and professionalism. If you are looking for a hip replacement surgeon, Dr Paul is the first one to go to. Highly recommended.
Dr Paul has been absolutely fantastic with my husband and his total hip replacement. My husband was daunted and left it for 15 years before sorting it as he hadn't found the right surgeon. Once he met Dr Paul, he stopped his search and booked it in there and then. Paul was knowledgable, approachable and answered all of our questions, kept in touch with me just after surgery even when my husband was in recovery to give me an early heads up and stop my worrying that it had all gone well. We are now 2 weeks in and the recovery has been outstanding - absolutely no pain! Husband now saying he doesn't know why he waited so long as it was nowhere near as bad as he thought it would be!
